El Hadji Diouf is a Senegal Legend. Diouf is currently playing for premier league club Blackburn Rovers. He was inspirational in the Senegal’s march to the quarterfinal of 2002 World cup. Diouf is a tricky player with lot of skills. He can play the role of a striker as well as winger on both flanks. He is in the list of FIFA Top 100 greatest living footballers in the world, published in 2004.Diouf is a quite a temperamental player and hence has a big disciplinary history. He received many suspensions and fines from his clubs. UEFA and FIFA gave him ban and fine on disciplinary backgrounds on occasions. El Hadji Ousseynou Diouf was born at Dakar in Senegal on 15th January 1981.Diouf started his professional career in Europe with French club Sochaux-Montbeliard, in 1998.He played 15 matches for them before moving to another French club Stade Rennais. He played 28 matches for Stade Rennais and scored two goals. He moved to RC Lens in 2000.He played 54 matches for Lens and scored 18 goals.
After an impressive 2002 world cup, European giants Liverpool signed Diouf. He scored on debut against Southampton. He helped Liverpool to win Worthington cup. He struggled for goals at Liverpool. In 79 matches, he scored only six goals, and he went goal less for a period of 14 months. He revived his career at Bolton Wanderers after moving there on loan in 2002.He scored nine goals during his loan spell and helped Bolton to qualify for UEFA cup for the first time in their history. Bolton signed him permanently in 2005.Diouf was the first player for Bolton to score in European club completion and it came against a team named Lokomotiv Plovdiv. Diouf had cult following among Bolton fans. Diouf played 136 matches for Bolton wanderers and scored 24 goals. As his former manager Sam Allardyce left for Newcastle, Diouf wished for a new challenge at the end of the season.
In 2008, Diouf joined Sunderland. However, he failed to recapture the performances levels seen at Bolton. He played only 16 matches for Sunderland. Just after six months, Sunderland allowed him to move. Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce signed Diouf in 2009.He helped Blackburn rovers to retain their premier league status. He has played 363 matches until now and scored 60 goals in club level.
