Henrik Larsson is Celtic and Swedish legend. Larsson is one of the top strikers in world football during 90’s and 2000’s.In 2003, Swedish football association named Larsson as the Greatest Swedish Footballer of the last five decades. Larsson won European golden boot in 2001, for scoring 53 goals during the season. Larsson is the all-time top SPL goal scorer, with 158 goals. For his contribution to the Scottish football, Scotland football association inducted him into the Scottish Football Hall of fame in 2005.
Henrik Edward “Henke” Larsson was born at Scania in Sweden on 20th September 1971. Larsson started his football journey with the youth team of Hogaborg BK, at the age of six. In 1988, Larsson made his senior debut for Hogaborg, in the third tier of Swedish football. Larsson played 74 matches and scored 23 goals for Hogaborg. In 1992, he moved to Swedish first division team Helsingborg. He scored 51 goals for them in 61 matches. He saved Helsingborg from relegation before he left the club.
In 1993, Larsson moved to Holland and signed up for Feyenoord in a transfer deal worth 295,000 pounds. He helped Feynoord to win KNVB cup in 1994 as well as 1995.Larsson scored 42 goals in 149 matches for Feynoord during his 4-season stint with them.
In 1997, Larrson moved to Scotland and joined Celtic. He made his debut for Celtic against Hibernian. He won Scottish League cup with Celtic, in 1997.He scored a goal in the final league match against St Johnstone and helped Celtic to break the monopoly of Glasgow Rangers in the league for eight years. It was his first Scottish league title. In 1998/1999 season, he scored 35 goals for Celtic. He won Swedish footballer of the year award that year. In 2000/2001 season, Larsson helped Celtic to win SPL, Scottish Cup, as well as Scottish League. In 2002, he helped Celtic to retain the SPL title. He helped Celtic to reach the group stage of UEFA Champions league. He scored four goals in Europe. He was the top scorer in SPL during 1997, 2001, 2002, 2003, as well as 2004.In 2002/2003 season Larsson helped Celtic to reach the UEFA Cup final, in which they lost to Porto. In 2003/2004 season, he helped Celtic to win SPL as well as Scottish cup. He helped Celtic to reach quarterfinals of UEFA cup, after exiting Champions’ league group stage. Larsson played 315 matches for Celtic and scored 242 goals.
He moved to Spain and joined Barcelona, in 2004.He played bit-part role in the Barcelona’s La liga winning campaign. In 2005/2006 season, he scored 10 goals to help Barcelona to retain La Liga. He won UEFA champions league with Barcelona in 2006. Larsson moved to his former club Helsingborg, in 2006.He won Swedish cup with Helsingborg in 2006. In 2007, he went to Manchester united on loan for 71 days. He played 13 matches for Manchester united and scored three goals. Larsson got winners medal as Manchester united won the EPL. He returned to Helsingborg. He scored 41 goals for Helsingborg in 81 matches, in his second stint with them. Following a knee injury, Larsson bid adieu to football in 2009.

Larsson started his International career for Sweden in 1993. He helped Sweden to finish third in the 1994 FIFA world cup, which is Sweden’s best performance so far. He helped Sweden to reach the second round in 2002 FIFA world cup from tough group involving England, Argentina as well as Nigeria. He came out of retirement to help Sweden to reach the quarterfinal of 2004 Euro. He scored the “Best goal of the tournament” against Bulgaria. He played in 2006 world cup and helped them to reach second round. He scored goals in three world cups. He again came out of retirement to play for Sweden in Euro 2008. Larsson scored 37 goals in 104 matches for Sweden. He bid adieu to international football.
