Javier Adelmar Zanetti was born at Buenos Aires in Argentina on 10th August, in 1973. . Pupi, IL Trattore, IL Capitano etc are the nicknames of Zanetti. Javier Zanetti is the captain of Italian Serie A club Internazionale. He plays for Argentina at international level. Javier Zanetti holds the record of maximum number of appearances for Argentina, with 135 matches. Zanetti is a versatile player who can play in defence aswell as midfield. He plays as right back for Argentina. He plays as right back for Internazionale. However, on many occasions he played as right midfielder as well.

Zanetti started his professional football career with an Argentinean second division club, Telleres de Remdios de Escalada, in 1992.He played 17 matches for Talleres. In 1993, he joined Argentine Primera division side Banfield. He played 66 matches for Banfield and scored four goals. During his stint with Banfield, he was so impressive that he got his first call to Argentinean National team.
