Tim Cahill is one of the best Australian footballers in this current era. Cahill has attacking instincts and he is good in air. He scores vital goals for his teams’ .He celebrates his goals by punching corner flag like a boxer.

Cahill learned his football basics while playing for Balmain Police Boys Club and Marrickville Red Devils. He joined the youth side of Sydney in 1996.Cahill moved to England and joined lower division side Millwall, in 1997.He made his debut for Millwall in 1998.Cahill was part of Millwall squad, which finished as the runners up in Associate Members cup, in 1999. He scored 13 goals in 2001/2002 season, which is his best tally for a season. He was instrumental in Millwall’s runner up finish in FA Cup, as they lost the final to Manchester United, in 2003/2004 season. Millwall for the first time qualified for UEFA cup following that performance. He scored three goals in that FA cup run. Cahill played 239 matches for Millwall and scored 57 goals. He won the Oceania Footballer of the year award in 2004.

In 2004, Cahill joined English Premier League side Everton in a transfer deal worth 1.5 million pounds. Cahill scored 11 goals and helped Everton to finish fourth in Premier League in 2004/2005 season. However, they bowed out in the UEFA Champions league qualification round. Both fans and players voted him as Everton’s Player of the year. Cahill had string of injuries in 2006, 2007 and 2008, which affected his number of appearances for Everton. Cahill scored his first UEFA cup goal during2005/2006 season. Cahill played as striker for Everton on many occasions during 2007/2008 aswell as 2008/2009 seasons, due to injuries to the frontline strikers in the team. He played a role in the Everton’s great run in FA cup in 2008/2009 season. They lost to Chelsea in the final. He helped Everton finish 5th in the league in that season. Cahill has scored 46 goals for Everton in 165 matches.

Cahill played for Samoan Under-21 team as his mother was Samoan. However, for International career he decided to play for his country of birth. He made his debut for Australia while playing against South Africa, in 2004.He appeared for Australia during the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Cahill while playing a 2006 World-cup qualifying match against Fiji, he scored his first hat trick for Australia. He was the part of that Australian team, which beat Uruguay for clinching a spot at 2006 World cup. He scored two goals against Japan in a world cup group match in 2006.He was the first Australian to score goal in a world cup. Australia went out of the tournament at knock out stage, after losing the match against Italy in controversial circumstances. He provided three vital assists against Thailand to help Australia to enter the quarterfinal of 2007 Asia Cup. He appeared for Australia in the qualifying matches for 2010 world cup. Australia has already qualified for the 2010 world cup. Cahill has scored 18 goals in 34 appearances for Australia.
