Zinedine Zidane is one the all-time greatest footballers in the world. He won the FIFA world player of the year award thrice. Zidane was truly magician on the football field with his amazing ball control, movements, and tricks. As a playmaker, he had a great vision to provide astute passes. He took some amazing free kicks. Zidane won the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1998,2000 and 2003.He is in the FIFA Top 100 living footballers list published, in 2004.

Zidane’s football journey started with the US Saint-Henri club’s youth team in 1982.He later moved to SO Septemes-les-Vallons, in 1983.He joined the youth team of Cannes, in 1987. At the age of 16, he made it to the senior squad of Cannes, in 1988.He made his Ligue 1 debut for Cannes in 1989.In 1991,zidanee helped Cannes to qualify for UEFA cup. Zidane scored 6 goals in 65 appearances for Cannes.

 Zidane joined Girondins Bordeaux, in 1992. Zidane helped Bordeaux to qualify for UEFA cup in 1992, 1993, and 1994. In 1995, Zidane helped them to win Intertoto cup to qualify for UEFA cup. Zidane helped them to finish as the runner up in UEFA cup, in 1996.Zidane won the Ligue 1 Best young Player in 1994 and Ligue 1 Best player award in 1996.Zidane scored 37 goals for Bordeaux in 174 matches.

In 1996, Zidane moved to Italy and joined European giants Juventus in a transfer deal worth 3 million pounds. He won the European Super Cup aswell as Intercontinental cup with Juventus in 1996.He helped them to win consecutive Italian Serie A titles in 1997 and 1998. Zidane helped Juventus reach the final of UEFA Champions’ league twice in 1997 aswell as 2008. However, they lost to Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively. Zidane helped Juventus to win Intertoto cup to qualify for UEFA cup, in 1999. Zidane won Serie A Footballer of the year in 2001.He won Onze d’Or in 1999, 2000 aswell as 2001. Zidane played 226 matches for Juventus and scored 31 goals.

In 2001, Real Madrid signed him on a then world record transfer deal worth 78 million Euros, as a Galactico. Zidane was instrumental in Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions league win, in 2002.He won European Super cup aswell as Intercontinental cup, in 2002 with Real Madrid. He helped Real Madrid to win La Liga, in 2003.He won Spanish Super cup in 2001 aswell as 2003.Zidane won UEFA club footballer of the year, in 2002.He found a place in UEFA team of the year in 2001, 2002 and 2003. Zidane played 224 matches for Real Madrid and scored 48 goals for them. He quit club football in 2006.

Zidane made his International debut for France with a two-goal substitute appearance against Czech Republic in 1994. He helped France to reach the semi-final at UEFA Euro 1996. Zidane was instrumental in the triumph of France at 1998 world cup. He scored twice in the final to help France to beat Brazil. He helped France to lift UEFA Euro 2000. He won the European Footballer of the year in 1998. He played only one match at the 2002 world cup due to injury. He quit International football following France’s quarterfinal exit from Euro 2004.Zidane came back and  led France as captain to clinch the qualification for 2006 World cup, following the request from the manager. He was instrumental in France’s runner-up finish, at 2006 world cup. He scored a goal in the final from penalty spot. However ,as match went into extra-time referee sent him off the field for head butting Italy’s Marco Materazzi. France lost the penalty shootout without Zidane. Zidane won the FIFA World cup Golden ball in 2006.He was in the FIFA world cup all-star team in 1998 aswell as 2006.Zidane scored 31 goals for France in 108 appearances.
